there is very little that shapes the human experience as much as creativity does. creativity is the gasoline that fuels progress in every human endeavor, from art, to science, business, and technology. creativity is the vehicle of self-expression and a huge part of what makes us who we are. creativity is the center of everything. it is our nucleus. based on this, you might expect creativity to be a major topic in philosophy, especially since it raises such a wealth of interesting philosophical questions. but oddly enough, it isn’t.
the word philosophy is derived from the Greek words "philo," meaning love, and "sophia," meaning wisdom. philosophy is the pursuit of wisdom and knowledge surrounding a certain subject. it encourages critical thinking, curiosity, and self-reflection, and an exploration of life's mysteries. philosophy encourages us to understand the world and our place in it, which in turn leads to a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
i define creative philosophy as a set of beliefs, values, and principles that guide, and inform every step within the creative process. I examine and research art with the intent to understand the nature of creativity itself, including its sources, mechanisms and outcomes. creative philosophy incorporates imagination, artistic expression, and innovative thinking into the exploration of philosophical ideas.
creative philosophy recognizes that philosophy can be experienced and understood through various creative outlets, such as art, music, literature, and even everyday experiences. other philosophies are targeted to specific audiences who believe in a “thing”, whereas creativity isn’t something to believe in or not believe in. it just is. creative philosophy seamlessly intertwines intellectual pursuits with artistic endeavors, providing a holistic approach to understanding and engaging with the human experience.
why should you explore the world of creative philosophy?
simply put - it’s emotionally and mentally rewarding. it encourages you to view the world through a creative lens, seeking connections and patterns that may otherwise go unnoticed. you begin to romanticize your life because you naturally notice the art in EVERYTHING. By combining intellectual exploration with artistic expression, you are able tap into our innate creativity and unlock the potential for personal growth and fulfillment. creative philosophy allows us to engage with ideas and experiences in a profound and meaningful way, enriching our lives with a deeper sense of purpose and understanding.
as a creative philosopher, I seek the art in everything on a daily basis, research it, and analyze it. I get inspired for a living, then convert my inspiration into information that resonates deeply with people just like you who are on a constant pursuit to add more happiness to their lives through creativity. making people feel seen and appreciated in their creative expressions regardless if they consider themselves a creative or not (a task that is incredibly challenging to do) is my ultimate goal and intent with my work.
I truly believe that my ability to connect the dots between creativity and the human experience will make the world a happier place. I am thrilled to have all of you on this journey with me, and it is my hope that on this journey and beyond, i can inspire each of you to embrace our own unique talents, curiosity, and creativity, and embark on your own quests as creative philosophers, shaping a world where art and philosophy intertwine to create a harmonious tapestry of life.
wishing you a weekend and life filled with creativity, exploration, and the joy of embracing the creative philosopher within. talk to you all again very, VERY soon.
