So happy you got to attend! Your bestie is so sweet for planning that for the two of y'all. I remember seeing your posts on IG stories and I was so hype to see you enjoy your time there. South Africa deffo has to be on your bucket list for this year in December. It's summer there, and the number of concerts and events will have you having the best time. You definitely want to visit Johannesburg (also known as Joburg) and Cape Town if you visit SA. South Africa is home to some of the most vibrant people I have ever met, and they know how to have a good time. It's also JUST such a beautiful country with some of the best sunsets I have ever seen.
I'm so happy you got to experience Detty December, Donye! I'm Nigerian (hey, sis ๐๐พ) and I haven't been on the continent of Africa in almost a decade. I hope I have the pleasure of going back to West Africa within the next few years. Also โย my cousins in London put me on to Amapiano this past Summer. Apparently, its pretty popular with the Black community in the UK.
Yeuuuhhhโ so happy for you!!! That first trip to Africa does something for the soul and heals so many generational wounds. To then channel your interest and curiosity into something tangible and practical like a playlist is such a savvy and personal way to communicate your discoveries and love for music. Cheers to more trips to the Motherland!
I didnโt even know about Detty December but Iโm about to see something right quick! Iโm trying to get down to my roots!
